Student Voice!

Room12 had to create a student voice. Now, you're maybe thinking, what is a student voice... Well. let me explain it to you. A student voice is technically a paragraph that goes into your report, but the teacher doesn't write it. YOU DO! In the paragraph, we had to write some of our highlights of  the year, what we've achieved and what extracurricular we've enjoyed.. So, that's what I did, enjoy my student voice that I've written!

Miss Grant!

Today, for our session with Miss Grant we had to complete a Google Drawing about one of the films that we commented on and why that comment is a quality comment. I commented on Tamaki Primary's film called "Our School" and this is my Google Drawing. ENJOY! :) 

Softball.

Today, Room12 got to play a proper game of softball. Glen Taylor is really lucky to have 2 very caring people Dave and Craig to come and teach us how to play softball and what the rules are on how to play. A lot of laughter and smiles were spread around the field.
It was an enjoyable session today.

Athletics!

Whole day outside, water fights, races with your friends, tug of war, zumba and laughter.
Who wouldn't love that? I know I would!!

Throughout the whole day today, Glen Taylor School had athletics. But today we never done the usual athletics we usually do. We only done 100m races, high jump, water fights, tug of war and other fun activities. It started raining during high jump so we went into the hall, said our house colour chants and also done Zumba. I am in Kaiahiku. (Yellow)

Koru Artwork!

A couple of days ago, Room12 had to create an artwork involving koru patterns.

Benefits of Technology.

A couple of weeks ago, Room12 had to write a explanation about all the advantages OR disadvantages of technology for learning. I decided to write about why it's good and bad since I didn't know what to write. Enjoy mine.

Calendar Work!

Students of Glen Taylor had to draw on an A4 piece of paper to be in the draw of getting their art on a calendar. This is mine, let's just hope that if mine gets chosen, it'll be on July.

Farewell Miss Sadgrove!

This morning was a very emotional morning as we had a farewell assembly for our Deputy Principal since she's going to be leaving Glen Taylor as she'll be starting her new adventure as being Principal at 'Mercer School' Each class had a video or an item to present to Miss Sadgrove since it might be our last time seeing her. She was a very bright person with a cheerful personality and she always made sure all the students had a smile on their face. 'Mercer School' is a very lucky school to be having a Principal like Miss Sadgrove. You will dearly be missed!!

Writing!

Today, in Room12 we had to write about why regular exercise is important. A couple of days ago, we had to do a plan and just think about why doing regular exercise is good for you. I've posted my plan a couple of days ago, so go check it out! 

Miss Grant!

Today we had Miss Grant in Room12 teaching us how to write a quality comment and what words to use and words we don't use. We had to also go onto other school's films and comment what we liked about all the films that we watched. It was a very fun session with Miss Grant. This is what we had to do.

Manaikalani Film Festival

This year is Glen Taylor's first year of joining Manaikalani and this term we had to create films, the theme for 2017 was "Connected, confident, life long learners" and it was a fun journey to be apart of. This film is about bullying and that there are many ways to stop bullying from happening and that you could "Connect" with the ones that hurt you the most. Sit back, relax and enjoy the film.

Poems.

A couple of weeks ago, Room12 had to create 3 poems about “Memories”, “In 10 years time” and “I wish” and each poem had to have 10 lines. I’m only going to be posting my

In 10 years time, i'll be twenty three.

As I'm getting older that's when I'm feeling a bit more free. 

Hard to believe that I'm growing up so fast.

Starting to regret everything that happened in the past. 

In 10 years time, I'll probably forget everyone that i know today. 

Love don't last forever, love eventually fades away. 

I'll probably still be in tears due to my grandfather

Been with him ever since I was a toddler.

I'll be praying to the man above to help me through the good and bad.

I'll be praying for all the things that I wish I would've had.

Why is regular exercise important?

Yesterday, for Room12's writing session, we had to plan out our writing and our writing is based on 

"Why is regular exercise important?" In this template we had to write about why we should be doing regular exercise. Look at my reasons why regular exercise is important!!

Powhiri..

Last Friday, Glen Taylor had a powhiri. Now, your probably wondering "what is a powhiri?"
A powhiri is where we do a welcome for the new students that has just joined Glen Taylor. Our Kapa Haka group sings songs and performs dances, hakas and many other traditional Maori dances. We also had Papa Big, our principal Mr Herlihy, Matua Adrian and one of our students Seth Makea saying a short speech. Here are some photos of the powhiri.

F.I.R.E

Today, in Room12 we had to create a Google Drawing with a couple of sentences explaining what F.I.R.E means. Take a look at mine

Inquiry ..

This term, our topic is about the 3 main languages of New Zealand which are Maori , English and Sign Language. So yesterday, Room 12 learnt the alphabet but in sign language. After we finished learning the alphabet we had to take pictures of each letter that spells our name and create a Google Drawing .. Take a look at mine

Back To School ..

Synonyms&Antonyms..

Yesterday, for Room12's writing session we learnt what a Antonym and Synonym is. An Antonym is a word that is opposite to the other and Synonyms are 2 different words but mean the same thing.. Then when we understood what a Synonym and Antonym is, we had to make an anchor poster based on what we learnt. It was a enjoyable writing block and it was cool to see everyone engaging to the learning. 

Quick Write..

Nearly every morning, Room12 does a Quick write. We have different subjects, sentence starters or would you rather questions to answer.. This morning we did, "this year has been".. Have a look at mine.. :)
